About

Hi, my name is Joern Hendrichs and I live in Northern Germany. I work in public administration in the field of Development Cooperation and I developed this website to see if I am just having a crazy idea or other people agree that creating a fund to pay for a universal basic income might be a project worth considering.

Why did I come up with this idea? There is a huge wealth gap in our global society. Some people have enough money to spend in a hundred lifetimes, while others can barely feed themselves and their families. Hard work and personal commitment are in many places of our planet unfortunately no guarantee for a decent life. Whether or not one will have a safe, healthy and prosperous life is largely already decided on the day of our birth. Depending on the country and family into which we are born, one may benefit from vast opportunities or be faced with difficulties over which one has little control as an individual. Those of us who did not win the ‘ovarian lottery’ still deserve a chance at a decent life, and this project could be a tool to help the less fortunate.

At this point, this is just a concept. There is no staffed organization, think tank or company (yet) behind this website. With enough support however, this might grow into something bigger. If you’d like to support this idea, please consider signing up for the mailing list and be become part of the UBI movement.
